Asia
Asia's story:
Somehow I ended up in a pound in rural Missouri.  I
don't know what I did wrong but my owner abandoned
me.  I just know I don't like little kids who are noisy and
throw things at me. One day,  a tender hearted visitor
saw  me in the cage, looking very dirty and matted.
She took me out of there  that very day.  A call to
ARRF provided help for me to get cleaned up and a
place to stay. I love to play with the big boys(dogs)in
doggy daycare.  The gals at
LaBest (Kennel) tell me I
am handsome and a good boy.  I need someone to
adopt me who really understands Pekingese,  our
spunky attitude and of course, will love me.  Asia was
recently adopted to a loving family.

My owner moved away and left me outside,
defenseless because I am DECLAWED (but wasn’t
spayed).  I  became a teenage mother and ended
up on the streets.  A good Samaritan noticed I had
an eye injury and was able to coax me into a cage
with a lot of good TUNA.  A call to a group called
ARRF provided a place for me at a veterinarian’s to
get checked over.

The next day I delivered 5 healthy kittens. Thank
goodness the manager of the clinic offered to
provide foster care until my kittens were old enough
to be adopted.  I loved to “snuggle” with people so
the name SNUGGLES seemed to fit me.  I NEED a
good home where someone will love me enough to
keep me safe INSIDE. I am now spayed; have my
shots and my eye has healed. PLEASE ADOPT
ME.

"Chief is a purebred blue merle Australian Shepherd
and  was given up by his owner ( an ARRF volunteer)
due to a change in their job schedule. He was born
January 26, 2006 and is neutered and his shots and
heartworm meds are current. He loves to play frisbee,
likes other friendly, non-aggressive dogs and is ok
with cats.  He loves people, is totally house trained
and a fenced yard would be ideal. If you have time and
TLC for this sweetheart, please call or e-mail ARRF."

Sweetie
was hard, dodging cars, kid’s bikes and stray dogs.  One rainy
night I saw a shed at the end of the alley. As I carried them in, I
saw a lady watching me.  Later that night she brought me some
food and water.  Thank goodness, I had just about given up.
The good  samaritan’s name was Bonnie, who talked to me
about finding a safe place for us to go.  Her home was full of
bunnies as she does rabbit rescue.  We were taken to a
veterinarian’s where we received medical care courtesy of
ARRF and then went to a foster home.
I love people, other cats and I am only 11 months old, a teenage
mother. I am spayed, have my shots and need someone to love
me. They tell me I am pretty and sweet but so far NO ONE HAS
ADOPTED ME.

Gus
Cocoa was found approximately 5 weeks ago laying in a
bed of dry grass in a field.  She was emaciated, frightened
and in pain.  After given food and water for about 2 weeks in
the field, she finally followed a volunteer to her car and
hopped in.  She was taken to the vet where she received
medical care.   At that time she weighed 17 pounds and was
guessed to be about 10 months old.  The vet noticed that
Cocoa had a few broken ribs and a dislocated right hip.
Cocoa is now healing and continues receiving medical care
courtesy of ARRF.

This sweet Labrador-Beagle mix is in foster care until it is
determined what type of surgery and rehabilitation will be
needed.  Cocoa has become a part of the foster
family.   She is completely house trained and always alerts
someone if she needs to go outside.

ARRF tries in every way possible to provide medical care
and follow up treatment for the animals. ARRF appreciates
donations so we can continue to provide medical care for
sick or injured strays. Please send your donations to:  ARRF
at  P.O. Box 397, Caseyville, IL62232 or click below to use

Balto
Balto is a pure Pomeranian who is great with people, kids
and other dogs. He will be 2 in April, is neutered,
crate-trained and current on his inoculations. He
would prefer to sit in your lap when he isn't playing. To
adopt this sweet doggie call 618-345-l778  or email ARRF.

Pinky
I was found at a southern Illinois quarry, hungry and looking
for help. A nice lady gave me some bologna and coaxed
me into her car.  After a bath and good food, I began to
look like a new dog. I received medical attention, shots, a
micro-chip and went to a foster care home to get better
and learn some manners.

I am a gorgeous, sweet, female Boxer mix born around
December 1, 2005.  I weigh in at about 55 lbs. and have
been spayed.  I love people, especially kids and ladies.
Some men and other dogs are ok too.   I know there is
someone out there who will love me.   I am housetrained if
you pay attention and I like to ride in the car. A fenced yard
would be an ideal place to play.

Please come see me and let me show you how much love
I have to give. Call 618-345-1778 or email ARRF and set
up an appointment. Thanks for looking at me!!!
Alfie
ALFIE is a purebred, apricot and chocolate Phantom standard
Poodle who was left outside in a pen. ARRF provided medical
care for an eye infection and an intestinal parasite. This very
gentle, neglected dog is 7 mos. old, neutered, very smart and is
now house trained and likes other dogs. He has recovered, is
gaining weight and learned some manners. ALFIE loves children,
people and likes other dogs.  AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
FAITH , an 8 week old pup was given up by her owner due
to a deteriorating bone disease in her hip on August 29.

FAITH’S story:

I was born in a barn in Michigan, where  I loved to snuggle
next to my Mommy’s warm body
PUPS FOR SALE” good hunting stock.  He stopped and
PUPS FOR SALE” good hunting stock.  He stopped and
talked to the Breeder who said “this
talked to the Breeder who said “this

puppy  is a great bargain.”  John decided to take me; paid
the breeder and brought me back to Illinois.   I cried,
missing my Mommy and siblings but finally fell asleep
when I could not  stand up any-more.

The next day I couldn’t walk without limping so John took
me to the veterinarian for an x-ray.  The doctor told him I
had Perthe’s disease, a deterioration of the head of the
femur bone.  It’s unusual in big breed dogs, just my luck.   I
won’t be able to hunt and will need surgery in a few
months. My owner didn’t want me and called agencies for
help.  The last phone call that day was made to ARRF, a
group that helps injured or sick animals  receive medical
care. The lady said they had a meeting that night and they
would
talk  about trying to help me. The next day John left me at
the veterinarian’s and signed me  over to ARRF’s care.  I
will be in a great foster home while the Drs. monitor my
hip.

My new name is FAITH because ARRF has “faith” that
people reading my story will  care enough to help me and
other animals like me receive first aid and medical
treatment.

Fonzy
FONZY, the Foxhound mix, had a sad story to tell the
good Samaritan who picked him up off a country road.
She called ARRF and described this limping,
emaciated dog's condition.  Fonzy received veterinary
care including a heartworm test that proved to be
positive.

ARRF decided to treat this exceptionally gentle sweet
dog.  He is growing stronger, gaining weight, receiving
pain meds and continued treatment to kill the
heartworms.  His Journey with ARRF has been a good
one as Fonzy makes friends with anyone he meets and
all who care for him.

To adopt him please call the ARRF adoption line at
345-1778 or e-mail us your name andphone #.
Thanks to Belleville Area Humane Society for
networking with us as we all try to find a good home for
FONZY.
Gretel
Mischa
MISCHA, looking like a scruffy, little fur ball, was seen
wandering slowly around a local park. This sweet Shih
Tzu was so severely matted she had to be shaved
down to the skin, had sores on her face, body, and
especially, on her feet. It is obvious she was suffering
from neglect and possible frostbite. ARRF provided
medical care, grooming and special baths to help her
skin recover. She is very sweet, approximately 2 yrs.,
spayed; micro-chipped; house trained and likes other
dogs. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
GRETEL’s story is typical of many Shelter dogs. She
came to ARRF in 2006 with her son, Hansel.  They were
adopted to different homes but unfortunately Gretel’s
owner is now no longer able to care for her. Gretel came
back to ARRF where she has settled happily  back into
her former foster home. She is an adult, purebred
Petite Bassett Griffon Vondeon better known by the
breeders as PBGV’S. She is good- natured, spayed,
totally house trained, loves to ride in the car, likes cats;
is great with kids and adults.Gretel prefers to be an the
only  dog in the home.  AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
